Preeti K. Bajwa is an attorney practicing criminal defense, healthcare law, immigration and civil litigation. Ms. Bajwa began her legal career at the Office of the Public Defender, Santa Clara County. During her first year of practice, she tried an unprecedented 20 cases to jury trial. In the process she secured not guilty verdicts and hung juries, which resulted in dismissals against her clients. Subsequently, Ms. Bajwa joined the Sacramento County Public Defender’s office where she represented indigent clients charged with felonies from case inception through trial. Ms. Bajwa practiced civil litigation with an AV-rated boutique law firm in the Bay Area where she gained significant experience defending insurance companies in personal injury lawsuits. There she successfully represented clients in arbitrations and mediations and she second-chaired a million-dollar trial.
In 2008, Ms. Bajwa founded the Law Offices of Preeti K. Bajwa. In this capacity, Ms. Bajwa grew her federal practice and specifically her healthcare fraud and other white-collar crimes practice. Ms. Bajwa holds a Masters in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount, which provides her with the ability to review and understand financial documents. Additionally, Ms. Bajwa managed a healthcare practice for several years and she represents healthcare clients in maintaining compliance with all Medicare, Medicaid and healthcare statutes. She regularly provides counsel to healthcare providers and organizations in a number of areas, including but not limited to: compliance, Recovery Audit Contractors (“RAC”), Medicare and other payor audits, fraud and abuse, reimbursement matters, and HIPAA Privacy and Security. Ms. Bajwa also specializes in legal issues impacting billing and management companies, anesthesia and pain management providers, hospice providers and mental health agencies.
Ms. Bajwa continues to represent clients charged with serious felonies including federal white-collar crimes, healthcare fraud, homicide, robbery, burglary, rape, assault with a deadly weapon, violent crimes, firearm charges, drug and theft offenses. Her trial practice continues to fight for her clients, negotiating favorable dispositions and trying cases as necessary.
Because of Ms. Bajwa’s extensive trial experience, she often receives favorable dispositions early the proceedings including many felony-reduced misdemeanors.
